Honouring our women and mothers

Letters

EVERY woman needs to be honoured and mothers should be cared for with love.
Honour refers to showing respect, which should be accorded to all people, especially females because they are the weaker vessel not forgetting the elderly and vulnerable people.
The value of honour should not be defined by tradition or superstitious beliefs that devalues humanity by their gender, status, race or skin-colour. Any culture that dishonours females from male or vice versa is defect and should be replaced.
All cultures on Earth are not perfect.
Even the Jewish culture that Jesus Christ grew up in was not perfect as there were discrepancies amongst the people.
One of them was the disrespect of women in their communities where they were abused and considered inferior amongst the masculine society.
When Jesus began his ministry at the age of 30, he changed that faulty culture that mistreated women and brought honour, dignity and equality to them.
When a woman who was caught in the act of adultery was brought to him by her accusers to be judged, Jesus stood up in support for the woman because he knew the nature and dignity of women and the injustice, abuse and ridicule they had to endure each day.
Jesus knew the woman’s sin, but He looked beyond her mistake and saw a woman who was already hurt, wounded and broken on the inside.
He saw the fragile condition of a woman who needed love, security, understanding and support from her own husband.
He knew that it was not in the nature of a woman to resort to prostitution or immorality.
When her accusers were convicted by their conscience, they left her alone with Jesus and she was released with forgiveness and told not to sin any more.
When Jesus was in extreme pain and agony upon the cross at Calvary, he did not forget the priceless value and dignity of both men and women.
Behold is an important word which means to pay careful attention to discover the uniqueness, value and dignity in something or a person.
When our consciousness is awakened, we will value people by blessing, embracing, honouring, obeying, loving and delighting each other.
