TELIKOM PNG donated t-shirts and caps to the Southern Highlands Hope Cup committee at the Highlander Hotel in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, on Friday.
Telikom is the rugby league fixture’s corporate sponsor.
The Hope Cup which is an annual fixture between the Mendi Muruks and Port Moresby Vipers, was initiated by NCD Governor Powes Parkop and Southern Highlands Governor William Powi in 2019 and will see the second edition this month at Momei Oval in Mendi. Last year the Hope Cup was not held because of the political impasse.
Telikom acting head of commercial, Silas Matoli, said the state owned enterprise was thankful to the provincial government and Hope Cup organising committee for inviting them to be a sponsor.
He said as a sponsor, Telikom PNG had donated 300 caps and 300 t-shirts for the Hope Cup committee that was working to make the match a success while promoting hope and peace in the province.
“We are happy to work in partnership,” he said.
“The provincial government is one of our customers and it is also our intention to make sure there is peace in the province. There was a lot of negativity of the province and we think such an event will change that perception.”
He congratulated Governors Parkop and Powi for the initiative and called on others to support the match.
