Hopes for new hospital

Morobe health authority (PHA) hopes to build a new district hospital for Huon Gulf people in Nadzab, Wampar, next year.
PHA board chairman David Wissink said in this year’s budget, they had invested some funding into detailed design work for the Huon Gulf District Hospital before its actual construction to start next year.
Wissink, however, was unable to disclose the figure but Huon Gulf MP Ross Seymour confirmed securing K45 million for construction of the hospital to cater for Morobe, Salamaua and Wampar.
He said the hospital was in line with some successful results achieved like the redevelopment of Angau Memorial Hospital, West Taraka and Tent Siti urban hospitals with the help of donor funding.
However, the PHA and nine districts need amicable working relationships to deliver health services to the majority.
Wissink said the PHA was trying its best to garner support from MPs because they depended for funding from districts to reach village aid posts.
