Hospital back to normal operations

KAVIENG General Hospital in New Ireland has recently started its operations after being suspended following an attack on a hospital staff earlier this month.
This was confirmed by provincial health authority chief executive officer Dr Joachim Taulo.
Taulo told The National that the hospital resumed operations and investigations relating to the incident were ongoing with suspects in custody at the Kavieng Police Station.
“Our services are now open,” he said.
“Since last week, everything is now back to normal but police are doing their job to continue with the investigation to arrest more suspects.
“We are just making sure that nothing like this happens again to any of our hospital staff.”
Following incident-free election preparations in the province, Taulo said such incidents needed to be addressed effectively to ensure individuals did not break the law and cause other disruptions during the general election.
He said the contributions of hospital staff during the election period would be vital and that people needed to respect theses workers and allow them to do their jobs.
“As much as possible, we are trying to avoid such bad activities in the province,” he said.
“The election is coming up and we don’t want the same situation to happen then.”
“We must respect their profession as they too have a part to play.”
