Hospital commended for violence campaign

Letters

CONGRATULATIONS to the board, management and staff of the Port Moresby General Hospital for promoting ‘Say no to violence against women and girls campaign’ walkathon that started on Saturday.
Women and girls are a source of our strength.
They are a source of how our house looks the way it is.
Women and girls are source of human existence and survival on the planet.
Women carry a life for nine months. Women are more concern about this new life for nine months than theirs.
In labour, women bear the pain to endure human dominance on the planet against their own survival.
Women are the source of our nurturing.
The women and girls do our cooking, washing, gardening, firewood collection, fishing, sago processing, paddling, and make sure we are at home at night fall.
Women wake us, prepare our meal, drop us to school and pick us, and attend our school meetings. When things go wrong, women carry our pain more than men. Our women who earn an income are overburden with work, being a mother and wife.
Our women make decisions after careful thoughts. The bond that a women and girl creates is very powerful.
During creation of a human being, a child carries the genetic imprint of both parents.
However, there is a striking difference, and that is, the energy source called the mitochondria is exclusively derived from the mother. Women are good decision makers, so they are leaders too.
And, the only difference between a man and women is a man has no womb.
For this, I wholeheartedly respect, honour and love my great grandmother, grandmother, mother, aunties, cousins, nieces, wife and daughters, and the women and girls on this planet.
Women and girls – you are our blessings. You are the men’s and boys’ blessings.
Let us give them the respect, gratitude, honour and the empathy they deserve.
