How much should students pay for busfare?

Letters

WE parents hereby urge the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC) to come clear in the media on how much students should pay as bus fare.
After that all bus crews should be warned not to over charge.
A consequence of that will be the impounding of their buses for non-compliance. ICCC should take responsibility and make this awareness.
It is pity that children as young as seven-year-olds are being forced by the crew to pay K1 bus fare to go to school in the city.
I have witnessed some instances where the bus crews are demanding K1 from these little school children. When I question crews why charging K1, the response is, everyone is paying K1 across the board.
The failure lies with relevant authorities such as ICCC.
Run this awareness run for a few months so the information is well digested.
Furthermore, buses also do not complete their designated route and even charge K1 for short distances.
One example is some Bus 4, charge K2 from Gordon’s direct to Town. Is this fee sanctioned by ICCC? Some other Bus 4 only take the route from Gordon to Boroko charging K1 without continuing to Town. The approved route is Gordon to Town and back. After dropping off passengers at Boroko they take new passengers and charge K1. Those who want to continue to Town also pay K1. Is this also sanction by ICCC?
Policy makers of government institution should strictly monitor and penalise those breaking and not adhering to transport policy and act.
