Huge crowd welcomes arrival of Bible in Mendi

 A BIG crowd watched the arrival of the 400-year old King James version of the Bible in the Southern Highland capital of Mendi on Friday.

More than 10,000 flocked into the little town to see one of five versions of the Bible at the Mendi airport arrived in a chartered South West Air flight.

Accompanying the Bible was the custodian and Speaker of the Parliament Theo Zurenuoc, Kundiawa-Gembogl MP Tobias Kulang and Pastor Michael Wilson.

Southern Highlands Governor William Powi, Mendi MP De Kewanu and his  provincial assembly, administration officials, and pastors were among the crowd.

Members of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary provided a guard of honour for the Speaker.
