NEWCOMERS FC Momase have a mammoth task on Saturday when they visit Lae to take on the National Soccer League defending champions Toti City FC.
Momase coach Rosen Matanga understands that City consisted of quality players who have international experience.
However, Matanga is confident of his side’s passion for the game.
“We know they have high-profile players and they have a high standard of game but we are not worried about that,” Matanga said.
“We have a plan to concentrate on our own style of football and to give our best against Toti City FC.”
“I think that if we focus on our own style and game plan we can be able to play well instead of trying to follow their style of football,” Matanga said.
“We have some players who have experience at the NSL level like captain Junior Sasu, Anil Pasam and Kapret Singut so they are expected to step up and take lead.
“We also have talented goalkeeper Luke Kaprangi Jr, who was part of the PNG Kapuls train-on squad last year, so I think we can be able to give a good challenge against Toti City FC.”
The Port Moresby-based franchise was on bye last weekend.
Despite the continuous heavy rain in the nation’s capital last weekend, Matanga said they were able to train.
“The rain last weekend and at the beginning of this week affected our training a bit but we were still able to train well and the boys are looking forward to the big game on Saturday,” he said. FC Momase are scheduled to arrive in Lae on Friday.
In Port Moresby, Southern Strikers will face FC Morobe Wawens while Madang host Buang FC at the Laiwaden Oval.
