Private sector teams up with Govt

Business

GONE are the days when the private sector and Government are separate pillars in development, PNG Business Council president Robert Nilkare says.
Nilkare was speaking during the 2018 Prime Minister’s ‘Back to Business Breakfast’ in Port Moresby yesterday.
The Kina Bank-sponsored event themed ‘Find the Solution, Be the Solution’, was attended by more than 500 representatives from both the private and public sectors.
“We are team PNG,” Nilkare said.
“And therefore, finding the solution is a collective effort and being the solution is a partnership.
“Business Council of PNG stands ready to welcome our friends, both the SME and Apec CEO Summit this year.
“Rest assured we will be telling our story with passion and pride.
“As always, doing business in Papua New Guinea will remain a challenge.
“These complex issues must be presented in a constructive manner so as to discuss with Government what appropriate interventions to apply.
“I am grateful for the overwhelming urgency and support from the prime minister and his cabinet, members of parliament, chief secretary and senior officials who have considered our recommendations.”
Vice-president Nuni Kulu said the council was working with the Parliament Speaker to host the inaugural National Parliament business forum, where the private sector as well as foreign investors, would have the opportunity to meet MPs to explore opportunities in their provinces, districts and local governments.
“Scheduled prior to the July sitting, the event is expected to attract over a thousand exhibitors and delegates,” Kulu said.
“While Apec will dominate the headlines this year, let’s not forget other milestones in 2018.
“One in particular is the successful Television series ‘Survivor’, which will be shot at a location in East New Britain.
“It will showcase our pristine environment and the vibrancy of our culture.
“Congratulations (tourism) minister (Emil) Tammur for this milestone.”
