THREE masked gunmen not only robbed their victims of valuables and sundries but a plate of cooked food as well in Madang on Saturday.
Madang police commander Supt Mazuc Rubiang said Skady Holdings Ltd store owner Jack Finudish and two others were having dinner when the gunmen struck.
“One was armed with a factory-made pistol and his accomplices were wielding homemade firearms.
“Police arrived at the store near the roundabout to the airport just minutes late following a tip off,” he added.
Supt Rubiang said Finudish, an Indian, told police that the robbers, all wearing face masks, took three mobile phones, a circular saw, a tool bag, some clothes, a 10kg bag of rice, K80 and an undisclosed amount of cash.
“As the robbers fled, one of them grabbed a plate of rice and leftover meat in the oven,” he said, adding that they were believed to be from a nearby settlement.
