EXPERIENCED campaigners Garry Lo, David Loko and Willie Minoga have been named in the SP Hunters’ extended side for Sunday’s Intrust Super Cup clash with the Burleigh Bears.
Loko has been named in the second row, with Lo and Minoga pencilled in as 18th and 20th men respectively for the match against the 3rd-placed Bears at the National Football Stadium (3pm kick-off).
Loko and Lo are training with the Hunters after having finished their seasons in France while Minoga was released from his contract with English second-tier side Barrow Raiders following a recurring knee injury.
“Their inclusion in the team will be bring some experience and support to the side,” Hunters assistant coach Glen Nami tol The National.
“They will add strength to the side which will help our younger players continue to develop their game at this level.
“Our main objective is to finish strong at the back end of the season and these last couple of games are important to us.”
Meanwhile, Nami conceded that the Hunters needed to improve in defence after the 13th-placed side came off a 18-48 loss to the Townsville Blackhawks last weekend.
“One thing we can’t deny is our defence,” he said
“Our defence has been a problem since the start of the season.
“We’ve been struggling with our defence and we’ve been working on that for a while now but it’s something you can’t fix overnight.
“We’re aiming to finish our (four) remaining matches strongly before we can look ahead to next season’s campaign.”
