I have not been unfair as minister: Uguro

Letters

THE photograph of a road inspection raised to claim that I am being unfair is biased and baseless in page 36 of The National on Friday under Nek Bilong Pipol column.
I have not been unfair as the Education minister in service distribution.
That road inspection was done when I was not a minister last year on the newly-built Usino-Sepu road linking Gama local level government and Usino local level government.
For education services, the department and the ministry are being fair to provinces and districts in the country.
We approve and establish new institutions or upgrade status based on requests by provinces and districts through their respective education boards.
Some programmes are ongoing from the previous regime which we are obligated to honour and promote community obligations throughout.
Currently, I am calling for the Government to release our infrastructure grants so our districts and provinces could be assisted as many requests are still pending.
I understand that I am a minister, but I am obligated to my people of Usino-Bundi as the MP of the electorate.
The picture of the road shown in the paper on Friday is irrelevant to education programmes. So if I go and visit the road that means I visited as a MP for the electorate and not as the minister for education.

Jimmy Uguro (MP)
Usino-Bundi,
Education Minister
