PROVIDING education through sports is a dynamic opportunity that the Institute of Business Studies (IBS) is keen on providing.
IBS is partnering the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) and Trukai Industries to provide scholarships through a Fun Run draw.
PNGOC and Trukai host the Fun Run which includes a scholarship draw for those who buy Fun Run shirts, the money goes to supporting PNG athletes competing on the international stage.
On Friday, the partnership saw five scholarship winners announced after participating in the Fun Run last month.
The lucky winners are eligible to study either certificate three or certificate four for any of the courses provided at IBS College of Tvet.
The winners are Faustina Elaia (Goroka), Debra Manase (Bundi Camp), Wayhina Mamoson (Lae), Cynthia Korok (Port Moresby) and Roger Kamane (Lae). PNGOC secretary-general Auvita Rapilla described the partnership as a win-win situation for everyone.
“We at the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee are honoured to be part of this collaboration with Trukai and IBS, which gives back to the whole community,” Rapilla said.
Trukai Industries brand manager Nancy Inai said the Fun Run had grown rapidly in the last two years to cover almost 60 per cent of Papua New Guinea.
“There needs to be more awareness on how the Trukai Fun Run isn’t just a fun event,” the brand manager said.
“The event itself helps schools, our athletes and our communities unite in a fun and peaceful manner.
“The event provides scholarships for any ordinary participant of the Trukai Fun Run.”
The winners of the Trukai Fun Run initiative are advised to contact the PNGOC and IBS to follow up on their scholarship.
