ALL regulators of the country’s goods and services market should work together to develop appropriate industry applicable standards, according to the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC).
Commissioner and chief executive officer Paulus Ain told The National yesterday that the industry’s specific standards were adopted from other jurisdictions and they were sometimes not enforceable under the country’s current laws.
He said this created confusion, compromising at times or even misleading consumers about goods which were seen by many as fake or counterfeit products.
National Institute of Standards and Industrial Technology (Nisit) director general Victor Gabi told The National recently that there was a lack of good regulatory practices when it came to regulating the country’s goods and services market.
Gabi said Nisit was looking at working with the regulators of the goods and services market such as PNG Customs Services, Investment Promotion Authority and ICCC, among others to ensure good regulatory practices were maintained.

  • As a simple man on the street, I would see counterfeit products are on the self’s especially the Asian shops.
I believed the staff working within the regulatory away of it. But no actions is taken.
How would we change our direction in order to targets the aims and golds before it’s to late..2050.
