Ignorance of resolution by clubs upsets Naipo

PORT Moresby Rugby Football League chairman Dr James Naipao is disappointed that affiliated clubs are ignoring a resolution on the use of Digicel Cup players in the competition.
Naipao said clubs breaching the resolution and continuing to field Digicel Cup players in their A-Grade teams was disrespectful and showed that they had no regard for the league’s executive and administration.
He said offending clubs Magani, Souths, Tigers, Brothers, Butterflies and Storm were fined K150 which needed to be settled before their next round of matches.
Naipao said the fines would stand regardless of whether the clubs won or lost last week’s games.
He said clubs needed to work with the administration and follow the decisions made collectively by representatives of the clubs.
“There is no excuse and I appeal to club’s to be mindful of what had transpired,” Naipao said.
He said an urgent delegates meeting would be convened to address the matter.
It was understood that Magani fielded Digicel Cup players Muka Peter Kulu (Rabaul Gurias) and Junior Belo (Central Dabaris) in last week’s match against Gulf West.
“It’s simple, Magani will be fined and the points awarded to Gulf West,” Naipao said.
