Ikumu: I will work with people

NATIONAL Capital District (NCD) Met Supt Gideon Ikumu says he will work with churches and communities to help address law and order issues in the city.
“I will work with the people in the settlements and suburbs to know their needs so that we can work together,” he said.
“I also will meet with National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop, Moresby North East MP John Kaupa, Moresby South MP Justin Tkatchenko and NCD city manager Bernard Kipit to know how we can work together to keep our city safe.
“For (Moresby) North West, we will have to wait for the new MP to come into office after the by-election.”
Supt Ikumu was at the opening of a new Church of PNG Revival Centre at Erima Wildlife settlement.
“The police can’t do everything ourselves,” he said.
“We need to partner the communities, leaders and NCD Commission to know their plans to help youths, churches and mothers.”
Supt Ikumu was recently transferred from New Ireland.
Former NCD Met Supt Perou N’dranou was appointed to Supt Ikumu’s former post as New Ireland police commander.
