THE common response of people, who tasted for the first time the locally produced Ilimo Milk was: “Fresh”.
Shoppers at the Stop N Shop supermarket at Waigani Central, Port Moresby, were given the opportunity to sample the first dairy product from the Ilimo Dairy Farm, in Central, on Tuesday.
The Innovative Agro Industries (IAI) had been holding sampling events at retail outlets around the city this week.
Customer Naomi Garo said it would be great if it was also available in other centres after its launching in Port Moresby.
She said it had a more natural taste compared to other milk products she had tasted.
“This milk tastes much fresher compared to the other milk products that I usually buy,” she said.
“It tastes so natural.
“If they are going to be selling it at half the price of what is on offer, I will definitely be buying this.
“It is locally made so that’s even better. I hope they don’t have it only in Port Moresby but also bring it out to other towns as well.”
Stop N Shop retail manager Rygene Tiu said the entrance of Ilimo Milk into retail shops should be well received by consumers as it was locally produced.
“It is also something we will look forward to have on our shelves,” she said.
“We promote local produce and this will be the first for milk.”
Innovative Agro Industries expect to have the milk products in all shops very soon.
IAI business development manager Gallit Tamir said it was important that customers were informed about what they were buying.
“We want people to know the product first before they buy it,” she said.
“That’s why the samples are here for the public to try their very own milk through this soft launch.
“Look for us at the chillers of most supermarkets very soon,”.
