IMPORTANT announcements and emergency orders must be clear, consistent and should reach all people in the rural areas of the country, Farmers and Settlers Association president Wilson Thompson says.
Thompson said instructions from the Government during the state of emergency was not reaching all the people in the country.
“Some of our people in the most rural parts of our country are being told to stay home without going to their gardens even though they clearly are not at risk,” he said.
Thompson said instructions from the Government should be tailored to suit different parts of the country.
He also called on the Government to find a way to assist those in the informal sector.
Gordon’s Market Vendors Association president Sana Dokopa said vendors were badly affected because of the restrictions under the state of emergency.
Dokopa said most of vendors had no other source of income.
“We cannot get loans from banks and benefits from superannuation institutions to support ourselves.”
