THE mining industry is prepared to discuss six recommendations on the Mining Act review with the Government, says Mining Minister Johnson Tuke.
Tuke said this during the PNG Mining and Petroleum conference in Port Moresby this week.
He said there would be further discussions and forums on the recommendations, including mineral ownership, repository production of data at Mineral Resources Authority (MRA), social levy on operative costs of mining companies’ downstream processing, a gold bullion bank and local content for contracting PNG companies.
Council member of PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum board and Ok Tedi Mining deputy chief executive Musje Werror said the industry was ready.
