Initiate meaningful proposals, MP tells youths

HUON-GULF MP Ross Seymour has urged youths in his electorate to organise themselves and get support from the district office.
He said this during a visit to Labibia village last Saturday.
Seymour said rather than asking for support for short-term events such sports and other cultural, church and social events, they needed to do things to improve their lives and add value to the community.
Youth leader Nick Nero said youths were an asset to communities and needed to be engaged meaningfully in activities that would benefit everyone.
Seymour advised Lababia councillor Tusi Ngadang to organise the youths, define their needs and submit a proposal for assistance from the district development authority.
“Why do youths in our district never ask for fishery or cocoa projects, even capacity building training to enrich mindsets to initiate something meaningful in their lives rather than asking for musical instruments and playing sports, which are seasonal activities?” Seymour asked.
Seymour urged councillors to identify and submit proposals on actual needs that would sustain and empower them.
He urged the youths to think about their future and invest their time on useful activities.
