MADANG MP Nixon Duban will be distributing more than K950,000 to selected institutions in the electorate as fee subsidies.

They include Divine Word University, Madang Technical and maritime colleges where students who applied for a 75 per cent contribution from his office will benefit.

He will be giving fees assistance to 58 schools, including private ones and those outside of Madang.

In a gathering on Sunday at the Malmal armlet of Riwo village outside Madang, Duban made a commitment of K300,000  for Malmal Elementary School.

“I knew I have that money waiting for me so I commit K300,000 for a four double classroom and four teachers’ houses for your school,” Duban said.

“Land disputes and other minor agendas which should be discussed in chicken houses should not be brought in to stop development,” Duban said.

He said Malmal villagers wanted the school be relocated so he would assist to see that all children around that area get better learning facilities.

Amele, Behir and Dogea primary schools received K100,000 each early this year from the education grant.

The grants are to support infrastructure development in the schools to cater for the escalating rate of enrolment spurred by the Government’s free education policy.
