Internal audit committee to manage Govt funds

THE Registry of Political Parties and Candidates has launched its internal audit committee mandated to manage and monitor government funding.
Department of Finance internal audits and compliance division first assistant secretary Tom Tiki said more than 47 committees had been established, 19 from national departments, 16 from provincial governments and 12 from state boards.
“Audit committees are part of the Government Finance Department, good governance in terms of procurement process,” Tiki said.
“We have the Acts which allow for agencies to spend in line with the Public Finance Management Act and monitored to ensuring good governance is practised in Finance Department.”
Finance Department deputy secretary, special projects, Sam Penias said the programme was small but it would play a very important role in managing government money.
The purpose of these committees is to help and not to report people, he said.
