Investment in knowledge key, says official

INVESTMENT in knowledge is wise, 439 students of Gerehu Secondary School were told last Friday during their Grade 12 prize-giving ceremony.
Guest speaker Maini Mick Ugaia, the principal adviser appointments of the Teaching Service Commission said parents invested in children.
“The struggles and challenges they face to invest in you (means you) will have to pay some interest back,” he said.
He told parents that investing in a child wasn’t a choice.
“We really have no choice but to invest in them because they are the ones who will bring change to our lives,” he said.
Ugaia encouraged the students to do their best in education as it was a very powerful weapon.
“Education is a process. It can take you places, despite age, appearance, size.
“If you acquire the highest education level, there will be people looking out for you,” Ugaia told the students.
The dux prize went to Beasley Tanu from Babagarubu in Rigo, Central.
He was given a prize by Trans Global Travel and Tours worth K1,000.
