THE Papua New Guinea Netball Federation is urging all affiliated associations to send their best junior teams for the upcoming championships in Alotau, Milne Bay.

The championship is scheduled for Sept 19-26.

PNG Netball federation secretary Mona-Lisa Leka said the focus of the 2015 national champions would be the selection of an Under-21 training squad.

“All association participating are urged to send their best players for selection in preparation for the World Youth Cup in 2017 in Botswana, Africa, she said.

All players must be under the age of 21 by Dec, 2016. 

She said all affiliated associations were to confirm their participation by Aug, 31 to PNGNF secretary and tournament director Helen Havora via the president of Alotau Netball Association (ANA).

Leka said the junior championship was scheduled from Sept 21-23 while the seniors’ games would run from Sept 24-26.

Apart from the championships, there will be also a  bench official and umpire training from Sept 19-20, two days prior to the championships.

PNG trainers and assessors will be conducting this course for affiliated associations.

Leka urged all associations to use this opportunity to send their nominations to games coordinator, Helen Havora for further information and/or confirmation of their participation.

The programme: Sept 19-20 – Bench official and umpire training with junior presentation at conclusion of competition; Sept 20 – Team managers meeting at Alotau Netball Courts at 5pm; Sept 21-23 – Junior tournament (and bench official and umpire assessment); Sept 24 – Governance workshop (10am – 12noon); Sept 24 – Annual General Meeting (6pm-7.30pm); Sept 25-26 – Senior tournament with senior presentation at conclusion of competition at Alotau netball courts.
