ENGA Governor Peter Ipatas is calling on the national government to transfer more enabling powers to provincial governments and not to centralise powers at the national level.
Ipatas said he acknowledged the O’Neill government for putting forward the government’s visions and plans of action but it must give more powers to provincial governments to make them effective.
“The prime minister must give a greater mandate to the provincial governments because we know the real problems and areas of needs that our people are facing,” he said.
He urged the government to enable provincial governments with greater financial support and to allow them  greater control over their finances.
