IRC goes hi-tech, forgets human element

Letters, Normal

TWO months ago, the IRC carried out tax awareness at the Lae International Hotel.
I attended as I was keen to ask some questions on training levy and also to find out why the phones do not seem to work at the headquarters.
To my amazement, a good part of their presentation was on the structural changes and their website.
They also boasted that they are just one of the few states entities that were well organised.
I live in Lae and it is impossible to talk to any IRC personnel in Port Moresby because they are (forever) upgrading their phone network and implementing and updating their fancy website.
Many of us want to communicate with the IRC and the last thing we want to do is log on to a website while our GST, salary/wages and income tax matters are still unresolved.
I commend the IRC for capitalising on the latest in communication technology but I need my GST statement of account and
I do not know how and when I will get it.
I guess I will have to wait until the phone lines are finally upgraded or, if I am lucky enough, the website will be able to solve my problems before the phone lines are fixed.
Get real, IRC, we want to talk to your officers.
