UPNG medical reference books old

Letters, Normal

I AM shocked to see the reference books at the UPNG medical library.
They are old, outdated and no longer suitable.
While they could have been in demand in the 1960s and 1970s, during my grandfather’s time, new technologies and treatments have made these books obsolete.
My question is: “Are our medical officers from the School of Medicine and Health Sciences really qualified to tackle the new diseases and illnesses?”
The health ministry and departmental secretary must look into this issue urgently and ensure our medical students are taught the latest in the medical world.
I am now a second year student and I am using those same old text books my elder sister used when she was a student here.
She told me the books have been there long before independence!
