Isou edge Dabari in NFS trial

THE Gulf Isou kept their composure to beat the Central Dabaris 18-12 in a trail match at the National Football Stadium yesterday.
The game was the curtain-raiser to the afternoon’s Q-Cup main clash between the PNG Hunters and Northern Pride.
The Isou, who named their final squad last week, proved to be more adapt to the wet conditions to edge the Digicel Cup debutants.
The Gulf side, who finished second last in 2018, are expected to struggle in the new season but showed there may be some fight in the Petroleum Resources Kutubu-sponsored side.
The Norris Selu-coached side looked the better team in terms of their structure and options and despite the face that both sides committed multiple errors, the Isou showed better poise.
Selu said it was good to win the trail but his team still needed to work on their execution.
“We were organised and knew what to do but execution let us down,” Selu said.
“We made too many mistakes. The Dabaris played well though.”
The halftime score was 12-12.
Meanwhile, the Isou released their final squad for the 2019 Digicel Cup season with the only notable names Moore Evara, Benji Kot and Ilave Sapea. Isou squad: Andrew Luke Jr, Ben Joe Sarufa, Benji Kot, Charles Kumbi, Eddie Mase, Ezekiel Minig, Gabby Taune, llave Sapea, Jack Foe, Jason Maima, John Koivi, Josh Erico, Marlon Palani, Martin Kouoru, Max Koro, Max Mine, Michael Kala, Moore Evara, Moses Okopela, Nelson Wak, Patrick Opo, Peter Soi, Phillip Kolowa, Ray Watt Vincent, Rex Hapeo, Rico Jimmy, Roa Manu Gairo, Robert Mase, Ronnie Aua, Smith Siviri, Wilfred Martin, Yunny Patrick.
