YORI James scored an unconverted try to help Bodiam Nuggets to a 4-0 win over Port Moresby Fua in the National Capital District Eastern Highlands Rugby League ID24 Shield yesterday.
Centre James scored the try in the first half as the Nuggets held on to claim victory.
It was a tough battle that saw both teams stepping up their backline moves and defence.
The second half saw both teams using their forwards to gain momentum up the middle.
Fua forwards Kensy Fove, Lakano Fune, Daniel Reo and Daniel Kadove played their hearts out but were contained by the Nuggets defence.
Nuggets coach Joe Virio said his side were determined to bounce back after losing their previous match.
“We prepared well for this game. We corrected our last mistakes, improved on our game plan and it paid off so we are happy,” he said.
Meanwhile, league president Benny Kene has urged clubs to settle their outstanding fees.
“This is the last week of registration. Failure to do so will result in matches being forfeited or teams removed from the competition,” Kene said.
So far, there are 24 clubs that have paid their fees in full.
