Jiwaka MPs ignoring issues faced by Banz

Letters

JIWAKA MPs are turning blind eyes on issues facing Banz.
Jiwaka was declared a separate province during most of these MPs’ second terms.
Most of these MPs got their support from the people in Banz. However, none of the three district MPs with the governor came back to show appreciation for Banz.
They only come around during election campaign period, voting and counting times.
When Banz goes through challenging situations, they are nowhere to be found.
Banz is the commercial hub of Jiwaka.
Commuters from all over Jiwaka go there for business.
People from neighbouring provinces such as Western Highlands and Chimbu go to Banz to conduct business.
It has been a satellite town under Western Highlands and was one of the most peaceful place.
But it has now turned into a ghost town.
Killing is becoming a norm in Banz.
Lawlessness is escalating at an alarming rate.
There is no presence of law and order in Banz despite stories of violence and other crimes making headlines in the media.
Our leaders are not bothered.
They have never once condemned the actions of thugs or did anything to address lawlessness in the area.
Their silence tells the people that they want lawlessness to continue.
They are the leaders of this nation and should be acting as leaders.
True leadership is shown during such challenging times.
Law and order issues are just part of the problem.
The level of education has dropped.
Hospitals in the province are having a hard time with limited funds.
I think Jiwaka MPs should focus on their province and districts before taking part in national development.
We’re no way near to other provinces and districts in the country.
Our public service mechanism is not functioning and there is a lot more to be done.
