Joel backed for Kumuls

Letters

NOEL Joel should be in the Kumuls squad for the World Cup.
Give our local players, who have been our proud flag carriers, the opportunity they deserve.
The team should mostly be made up of the Hunters players because they have the ability and potential as they have shown in the Intrust Super Cup.
Rugby league is the official national sport of Papua New Guinea and the Hunters’ exposure in the Queensland Cup has undoubtedly been good for the development of the game here.
If the Hunters can win the minor premiership in the Queensland Intrust Super Cup and put the country at the top of the ladder, then we must not underestimate their ability.
From the spectator’s point of view, the Hunters are shaping up as world-class. They are competitive and consistent. So they should form the foundations of the Kumuls.
It is time now for us Papua New Guineans to think positive, believe in ourselves, and be proud of our own country.
Trust our local talents and give them this opportunity to excel.
I know that coach Michael Marum will do his best and make us proud.
