Juffa commits to fixing Embogo

STUDENTS, staff and parents of the Embogo High School are reassured that work will start soon on their deteriorating facilities, says Northern Governor Gary Juffa.
During a recent visit to the school, Juffa said concerns raised by parents and citizens would be acted upon swiftly by the provincial government.
He said his staff members had gone ahead and carried out a thorough inspection of the school before his visit last Monday.
“Members of my staff have prepared a report for me after their inspection,” Juffa said.
“It concerns me that reports of this nature from schools within our province are not reaching my office in time for us to plan and provide solutions that better address these needs.”
School boards play a vital role and must always provide reports of such situations on the ground, he said. Juffa briefly met with staff before addressing a forum with students, school administrators and teachers.
The inspection revealed various infrastructural deficiencies, including rundown classrooms, inadequate sanitation facilities and insufficient resources, all of which had significantly compromised the learning experience for students.
“Northern was the sole province that did not receive its tuition fee-free funding for the first quarter of this year due to banking issues, which has since been resolved, therefore, all schools will now begin receiving their funding for this quarter,” Juffa said.
Popondetta MP Richard Masere assured that he will take on the responsibility of building permanent boarding facilities for the students.
“A baseline assessment will be carried out to determine all the needs of the school that will allow us to provide solutions that best suit your needs,” Masere said.
Juffa’s visit to Embogo High School underlined the Government’s commitment to prioritise education and ensuring that students have access to safe and conducive learning environments.
He also affirmed the Government’s commitment to working with stakeholders, including local authorities, school management, and community members, to develop a comprehensive plan for the renewal of Embogo High School.
