NATIONAL Provident Fund contributors who lost 15% of their savings have waited for more than 10 years to hear what has been done, if anything, about it, says trade union leader Reuben Elijah.
According to Elijah, the 15% savings was lost as a result of theft by some elites, and the workers have been waiting to see those responsible being investigated and punished.Elijah has been one of the most vocal advocates for justice over the NPF saga since he was the national president of the Papua New Guinea Banks and Financial Institutions Workers Union from 2000 to 2004.
“It is over 10 years now and nothing is heard about what punishment was imposed to those elites who stole from the fund through corrupt deals,” he said.Elijah said he hoped to see the issue addressed by new member of parliament and governor of Northern province Gary Juffa. Juffa has assured him that the matter will be raised.
