JUGU are aiming to continue their dominance in the National Capital District Volleyball Association competition as they look to record their fifth win of the season.
Coach Alex Gima told The National earlier this week that his men were aiming for another solid performance against Phoenix in the men’s premier division at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre this weekend.
“I’m confident of another win,” he said. Undefeated Jugu occupy the pole spot heading into this weekend.
Gima backed his men to continue their strong start to the season.
“We’re on top of the ladder, but we’re not rushing,” he said.
“We’re taking it one game at a time.
“We’ll see how the season unfolds.
“But our aim is to hold onto that position for as long as we can.”
Gima, who has gone through the coaching ranks in the Vabukori Volleyball Association and national team, Amoa, said he was Jugu would produce the next crop of representative players.
“We haven’t met the other top teams yet,” he said.
“But the teams who are playing against us, they need to be competitive to give us a good challenge.
“I’m encouraging them, especially the ones at the bottom of the ladder, to improve their performances.” Meanwhile, Gima said Jugu would retain a strong combination in the likes of setter John Soi and hitters Taera Momo Jr, Willie Sevese and Eka Solomon.
“We’ve got a good combination which is why we’ve won our past four games,” he said.
“I will retain the same line-up from last weekend.’’
