GOILALA MP William Samb has given K100,000 to the Works Department to upgrade the Tapini Highway so people can access goods and services in Port Moresby.
This money is to be added to the K400,000 that the Goilala district development authority has given.
“We have engaged the Works Department because they are the Government agency that is responsible for maintain roads in remote areas like Goilala – much cheaper and reliable,” Samb said.
“We did engage private contractors but then they are profit-oriented and do a lesser work at a higher cost. So we are now partnering with Works Department.”
Samb said that the 100km highway ran through some areas of the Kairuku District towards Goilala.
