K11mil queried

Letters

THE Juha PDL9 Landowner Association group is still waiting for its outstanding IDG grants since the signing of UBSA accord at Kokopo in 2009.
In that agreement, it was settled that K11 million was to be paid to Juha PDL9 Landowner Association but that has not been committed by the government.
From 2009 to 2017 we have not received any of the IDG payment as promised.
We only received a year’s IDG payment of K11 million and that was in 2012.
We are yet to receive our outstanding payment of K88 million from the government.
We are still confused as to why it has taken this long to settle our payment which is rightfully ours.
In the event of waiting, some of our elders have died without getting those benefits.
We would like to call on the Government to focus on LNG project security by reviewing the LNG USBA and LLBSA agreements; payments of outstanding royalties and MOU projects (IDG).
Government agencies like Petroleum and Energy Department plus the Treasury Department are responsible and they should look into this matter swiftly.
Otherwise, we will not tolerate the Muruk 1 and 2 projects to advance.
