K150 million in tuition-free funding will be made, says govt

THE Government is committed to paying the tuition fee-free funding of K150 million each term, with a total of K600 million budgeted for this year.
Kuman told The National that the government programme had never failed. An amount of about K37 million remains to be paid this term. “We’ve done well over the years, the programme had been fine-tuned. After six years of implementing the TFF policy, we have seen some good results. I want to see that the TFF money goes to the schools,” he said.
“I run around when there is no money to make sure that funding is made available. I talk to Treasury and Finance until the funds are released.” The Government paid K123 million in term three.
“We have paid TFF for all of this year and last year. The schools are almost closing for Term Three,” he said.“We doing really well.”
He said for the first time, the Government should be able paying out all the money before the end of the year.
