THE National Gaming Control Board (NGCB) donated K200,000 to the victims of the Tambul-Nebilyer landslide in Western Highlands.
The landslide claimed 12 lives and destroyed food gardens and homes. It occurred on the night of March 20 and covered about 4sqkm of Lamindi village in the Upper Kagul constituency.
Local MP Win Bakri Daki said people were still in mourning.
He said neighbouring villagers and relatives were accommodating survivors for the time being while the provincial disaster team was compiling a report to submit to appropriate authorities for possible help. Daki thanked Prime Minister James Marape, through the NGCB ,to step in and help despite the country being in a lockdown mode due to deadly coronavirus.
“The fund will be used in humanitarian relief supplies such as funeral arrangements, establish a disaster relief support account for the victims, food supply, temporary shelter and other restoration work,” he said.
