K20mil hospital to help Central

A NEW hospital will be built in Central so patients from the province will no longer go to Port Moresby General Hospital to seek medical care, National Planning and Monitoring Minister Richard Maru, pictured, says.
Last week, Maru gave an assurance of the State’s commitment to build a K20 million hospital for Central.
“We have this year allocated K20 million for the start of works for this Central hospital, especially for the acquisition of the land,” he said.
“Over the next few years, I want to make sure that we have a hospital to service our people in Central.
“This will free up space for specialists patients that this hospital (Port Moresby General Hospital) wants to deal with from throughout the country.”
Maru said there were K4.5 billion worth of health projects throughout the country that needed to be funded.
