K3.7mil project to light up Nebilyer

TAMBUL-Nebilyer MP Win Bakri Daki, pictured, brought the perfect Christmas and New Year gift to his people when he launched a K3.7 million power project in Upper Nebliyer last Friday.
Western Highlands deputy governor Michael Mai, who was a guest along with the five councillors representing around 10,000 beneficiaries of the power project, said Daki was the first MP from the electorate to deliver such an impact project.
“Today, we are witnessing history being made,” Mai said at the project launch.
“There will never be a time like this and there will never be a leader like this who has the heart to serve his people.
“Just four months into office and the man many criticised as a mere bus driver is delivering a project that will change the lives of thousands of people.
“Upper Nebilyer will never be the same again.
“We are happy to partner the MP to develop the district.”
Indian company Voltran Engineering and Construction has been engaged for the project that will involve 17km of power lines from Pokrapugl junction to Last Palme.
Daki said the project would start this month and be completed in February.
Daki, who is also the Vice-Treasury Minister, said this was the start of many impact projects that
he would like to embark on to make Tambul-Nebilyer a model district.
“K10mil in DSIP (District Services and Improvement Programme) funds is a lot of money,” he said.
“We can change this district in leaps and bounds and beyond 2022.
“We will ensure that not a kina of the people’s money will be lost. All will go towards service delivery in an accountable manner.”
The MP has already made available K1mil for school fees for Tambul-Nebilyer students in 2018.
