NATIONAL Capital District Governor, Powes Parkop, has pledged K600,000 for the recruiting of more auxiliary police officers to be stationed at the troubled Gordon market.

Parkop made this commitment on Tuesday during a mediation meeting between the Engans and the Taris and said that security at the market would be tightened to ensure the safety of the buyers and sellers.

He said that the money would be used to recruit more auxiliary police personnel under an agreement between NCD and the police force so that the market was safe for the public to use.

Parkop said that the Gordon market area was a difficult place to manage in terms of providing security and crowd control as people that congregated there did not have any respect for the law and for each other.
