THE Papua New Guinea Football Association’s acquisition of new vehicles, worth more than K700,000, for its offices around the country is part of an overhaul under president John Kapi Natto.
PNGFA recently purchased seven vehicles for its offices in Port Moresby, Lae and Kimbe.
Kapi Natto said a lot of changes had taken place under his leadership.
He said it was important to promote and practise good governance throughout the sport’s national governing body.
Kapi Natto said PNGFA’s executive committee had endorsed a re-fleet as they saw that transport was crucial to achieving the governing body’s goals.
“Transportation will make our job easier, so we are buying seven new vehicles for our offices in Lae, Port Moresby and Kimbe,” he said when handing the keys of the new vehicles to PNGFA operations manager Stanley Khanna in Lae recently. Kapi Natto said PNGFA had been struggling for the past decade.
“But now that PNGFA has achieved compliance under Fifa, we have requested for vehicles which was approved by sport’s world governing body and the Oceania Football Confederation,” he said.
Kapi Natto thanked Fifa for having the confidence in PNGFA to support the work of football in the country.
“There will be a vehicle policy and we’ll be bound by it when we use them,” he said.
“Fifa supported us with more than K700,000 worth of new vehicles.”
Another major development, which is part of the overhaul, will be the construction of four education centres in the country.
This year, PNGFA will concentrate on building education centres for the Highlands and Southern regions.
