Hekari forward Mervis Singara opened the scoring in the first half before Papua New Guinea international Kaipu rounded off the win with her double.
Cach Eric Komeng told The National that it was the perfect lead-up to next Saturday’s semifinals at Lae’s Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium where they would face Northern Conference winners Poro for a spot in the March 20 grand final at PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
“At the start of the season, we couldn’t play as a team,” he said.
“But we worked all week as a team and it showed in our performance.”
Shortly after Hekari’s third goal, defender Aida Gerota scored Genesis’ only goal with a strike from outside the box which slipped through the hands of Hekari goalkeeper Linda Bunaga.
