CRU adds Royals to competition

THE Capital Rugby Union (CRU) on Thursday announced the inclusion of Royals for the 2021 season, making them the tenth club in the competition.
CRU president Kori Chan said the inclusion followed talks between the CRU board and Royals to integrate its competition with a larger participation from teams in Port Moresby.
“We extend a warm welcome to the Royals following their admission to participate in the 2021 CRU competition,” he said.
“The decision to allow Royals to join CRU was a consultative process between the board and all member clubs, from which a consensus was reached to approve an application from Royals to join the association.
“There will be conditions attached to their membership.
“Details of these conditions will be issued in the coming days and will require agreement between Royals and CRU.
“They mainly focus on ensuring discipline, good behaviour and adopting shared values between the club and the CRU competition over a set period of time.
“The inclusion of Royals will add value to CRU.
“They have made great strides in developing their club, team culture and player depth via their junior development programmes and community outreach activities in their player catchment areas of 9-Mile and Bomana.”
