Sepik association hails 1st PM
THE East Sepik Grassroots Games and Futsal Association paid its respects to the late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare over the weekend, highlighting his leadership in breaking new ground in the province and country. Association president Clarence Hukahu said the joys of athletes were through the sacrifices of people like Sir Michael. “Many of us who are volunteering in sports were not there with you when this nation was born. But we have benefited from all the hardships, struggles, sleepless nights and sacrifices you, your close friends and family had gone through for us,” he said.

PNGFA sends condolences
PAPUA New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) president John Kapi Natto has joined mourners in paying their respects to the late Sir Michael Somare who passed away in Port Moresby last week. Sir Michael was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. “On behalf of the football community and using my other hat as vice-president of the Oceania Football Confederation, I send our deepest condolences to the late Sir Michael’s family and the people of East Sepik,” Kapi Natto said. He said PNGFA, through its premier women’s competition, paid a one-minute silence as a sign of respect over the weekend.
