DEFENDANT Bhosip Kaiwi facing a wilful murder charge over the death of his partner Jenelyn Kennedy will wait for another week in remand as the prosecution prepares a reply to his submissions.
Snr Const Shellian Pius yesterday made an application for adjournment because her fellow prosecutor Sgt Joseph Sangam in carriage of the matter was away for examinations at the Bomana Police College.
Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Tracy Ganaii granted the application because valid reasons were tendered to court supporting the adjournment.
“I will allow a short adjournment to Nov 18. I direct Sgt Sangam to file and serve prosecutions submission before or on Nov 18,” Magistrate Ganaii said.
Kaiwi’s lawyer Mathew Wenge, from a private law firm, told court that this would be the third adjournment for prosecution’s reply which the court noted.
Kaiwi was served his file on Oct 1.
Kaiwi, 25, of Minj village in South Waghi, Jiwaka, is alleged to have between June 18 and 23, tortured Kennedy at his home where she passed on after five days of continuous beatings.
Kennedy’s body was left at the Port Moresby General Hospital emergency ward where the medical staff pronounced her dead.
The body was later identified at the hospital by her relatives. A report was laid with the Boroko police station.
