A MAGISTRATE has adjourned Bhosip Kaiwi’s murder case for two weeks to allow his lawyer to obtain his practising certificate to represent him.
Kaiwi, 25, is charged with the murder of his partner Jenelyn Kennedy last year and is being represented by Mathew Wenge, of Luther’s and Associates.
Magistrate Tracy Ganaii in the Waigani Commitment Court, fixed Jan 19 for oral submissions and to confirm whether Wenge had obtained his certificate.
“The case will return on Jan 19 at 9.30am for both parties to speak on submissions and for the lawyer to confirm if he had received his practising certificate,” she said.
“I will hear oral submissions on that day and adjourn for a ruling thereafter.
“For now, I will issue a remand warrant for Bhosip’s continuous detention.”
Kaiwi filed his submissions on Dec 8, through his lawyer on insufficiency of evidence.
Replacement Police Prosecutor Shellian Pius had also filed her submissions in response.
Prosecutor Joseph Sangam, who was away on duty, has taken over the matter again.

  • simply withdraw the case and set Mr Kaiwi free.

Locked up in room and tortured to death – confirmed by a living witness (baby sitter) doesn’t look like evidence to the courts of PNG.

  • BK is a milking cow for lawyers and prosecutors…. overwhelming evidence warrants the case to be refered to National Court. What will the lawyer argue on insufficiency of evidence ? Kon lawyer pulap lo PNG.

  • Thumbs up to Kaiwi’s lawyer, he slowly but gradually untangles himself bit by bit from the grips of the law, this defense lawyer is very smart. It is a very old technic used by convicts around the world to set themshelves free by dragging court cases and Kaiwi’s lawyer can smell freedom down this path. If this case was tried in another jurisdiction the perpertrator should be convicted by now.
We may see arise in family violence and deaths becasue husbands are now protected by law and allowed to commit horrible crimes and escape punishment with lenient sentences…PNG stay tuned.
I am not a proud father of a son inflicting grievious bodily harm to my daughter in law and torturing her to death and later financing a fancy lawyer to free him.
