Kaluwin appointed as new public prosecutor

PONDROS Kaluwin has been sworn-in as PNG’s  public prosecutor.
Chief Justice Sir Sala­mo Injia witnessed the signing of instruments of office at the Waigani National and Supreme Court premises.
His appointment comes after successive acting appointments in the position. His appointment is permanent and means he was selected and appointed to the post following due processes.
The Judicial and Legal Services Commission has been instrumental in the appointment.
Kaluwin swore an oath and declaration of loyalty and office before Sir Salamo, Deputy Chief Justice Gibbs Salika, National and Supreme Court registrar Ian Augerea and staff of the Public Prosecutors office. Sir Salamo said Kaluwin was not new to the job and that the JLSC had confidence in him to perform his duties faithfully and competently.
Kaluwin thanked the staff of his office and encouraged them to continue performing their work faithfully.
He said he was ready to uphold the law and to respond to constitutional and other legal duties that his office would be tasked with.
