Kamen clears air on decision to bar clubs

THE decision to bar suspended clubs from the Lae Football Association competition was made by the congress, president Roy Kamen says.
He said the decision for clubs wishing to return to LFA to pay a fine was made by the congress in 2017 and was not an executive decision.
“The decision was made by the congress but because of the common understanding of football the executives allowed teams to return,” he said.
“The association’s constitution states that any club that has a debt but wants to return has to make some obligated duty to pay the debt which most of the returning clubs did not do.
“So the congress made that decision during the annual general meeting.”
He said the congress had also made the decision to defer its election to the end of the year.
“They have the right to appeal and can appeal to Papua New Guinea Football Association if they have grounds but the mother body will refer them back to LFA because we are an incorporated entity with Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) and have our constitution, everything will come back to our constitution,” he said.
He said the association’s next meeting would be on Feb 21 to discuss the 2021 season and representatives from all clubs were urged to attend.
