KAPARI Urban Sports will be holding its rugby league nines and netball grand finals at the Gordon International School sports field.
The netball finals will feature Raimoe Blues and Tabonatha Greens while in the rugby nines showdown minor premiers Veura Cowboys will clash with a much determined Konepoti Sharks who came out victors after beating the Watumana Titans last weekend.
In a heated semi-final at the weekend between the Sharks and the Titans, the Konepoti boys came out victorious with a gusty win to book a grand final spot.
Boasting experienced nines campaigners, both sides started off on a flying start with quick ball running and rucking around the fringes.
However, the Sharks had great advantage with speedster Lemech Ken taking advantage of the Titans lack of urgency around the rucks.
Playmaker Steven Mao slipped an inside pass to put Ken in the clear for the first try to lead 4-0 at the break.
In the second half, the Titans were more determined in attack resulting in a brilliant effort by youngster Ian Kirara to catch the Sharks’ defence napping and made a 30m sprint from dummy half to cross over to level the scores 4-4.
With less than 10 minutes remaining, a brilliant cut out pass Mao found Ken again clinch the winning try and seal the match 8-4.
